As rents skyrocket in the borough, a free home sharing program offers a solution to those who could use a helping hand.
The program is administered by the New York Foundation for Senior Citizens, and links adult hosts with guests to share their space. Resident Marcia Rosenfeld says that if it weren’t for the program, she would have been priced out of the apartment she’s lived in for decades.
The citywide program started in 1981. Anyone aged 18 or older can participate as a guest, but hosts must be over 55 years old.
