Shared housing is a boomer trend that’s growing by leaps and bounds. A good example is “The Golden Girls,”the popular ’80s TV series where four older single women share an upscale Miami home.

The shared-housing concept is well-established, and shared-housing numbers are expected to skyrocket, especially for women. Currently there are 4 million women age 50 and up living in U.S. households with at least two women. Makes sense when considering that about a third of all folks born between 1946 and 1964 are single, plus the fact that women live longer than men.
